WHO are the artists creating the work on this site? We thought you would like to meet them!
LYNNE SCHULTE
Lynne Schulte LaValley has mounted
several solo shows in Kansas, Washington, Vermont, DC, and Massachusetts. Primary
among her themes are moving water images stirred by the rocky shores of Maine
and Appalachian trail streams; floral works inspired by her gardens, roadsides,
and winter florist gleanings; and landscapes of Vermont, Maine and
Massachusetts. One notable series was a “Year in Bloom” when she produced 365
smaller paintings of flowers in oil and watercolor, followed by
“Fresh Bloom”, consisting of 15
larger works. In the summer, she currently moves between Vermont, Maine, Cape Ann and Cape Cod, Massachusetts for the majority of her landscape images, which are completed
primarily on-site. However, in 2010, with a new freedom of time as a full time artist, Lynne traveled for 5 weeks to paint, including to North Carolina. In the winter, Lynne works in the studio from pieces and photos from her summer travels, and in addition has an ongoing series she calls "Inside Work", primarily mixed media pieces. Lynne takes photographs, creates monotypes and paints in
oils, watercolors, and pastels. Her true subject is color and light and life
metaphor. Her moving waters
reflect the changes in her life, the florals, particularly “Year in Bloom” are
a response to the joys of a second marriage; her series of small
landscapes focuses on the new paths that she is walking as a full time artist after her
retirement from being an Art Education professional. The new work for her May, 2011 show consists primarily of sea and sky paintings from her travels and the proposed title "Endless Horizons" reflects her current outlook. Lynne says; “My art knows where I’m going, and it always
gets there first!”
As an art educator, using the name Lynne LaValley, taught and was an art education
administrator in Maryland, Vermont, and Massachusetts for almost 40 years and is available as
an arts education consultant to schools. She currently offers adult and teen classes,
specializing in color, drawing, and college portfolio development. Lynne holds a BS from Nazareth College of Rochester,
NY; an MFA from Antioch University, and a CAGS from Vermont College of the
Union Institute and University.
